In 1999, The University of Chicago approached us to put a bowling alley, bar and restaurant in the Hyde Park neighborhood. There was very little space available and few locations big enough to house a bowling alley. The University was expanding their north campus and was about to build a parking garage with retail space on the ground floor. César Pelli (world famous architect of Petronas Towers fame), designed the parking garage along with a new state of the art athletic complex for the University. Mr. Pelli was excited about the prospects of a local gathering place for students and the community and altered the design of the parking garage to house a bowling alley and restaurant.
Finally, in 2002, 8 vintage bowling lanes were installed at 1055 E. 55th and Seven Ten Lanes Hyde Park was “born”. Seven Ten Lanes features 8 vintage lanes, a classic art deco décor, and 9 regulation pool tables. Seven Ten also has a full kitchen and is the perfect spot for a party or just to relax with friends.
